GENERAL CONDITIONS OF BUSINESS
PLEASE NOTE - BY HIRING A SKIP FROM PORTADOWN RECYCLING YOU HAVE AGREED TO OUR TERMS & CONDITIONS.

​ Terms & Conditions The hirer shall be solely responsible for the condition of the "skip container" from the time of delivery to the hirer's premises until collection by Portadown Recycling (hereinafter called "the period of hiring"). The hirer hereby agrees to take all necessary precautions to ensure that it shall not be a danger or a nuisance to any persons or property whatsoever.

​ The customer MUST advise our office as to the proper positioning of the container. If no instructions are given we will place the skip in a position on the site that we feel is the most appropriate, if you require the skip moved there will be a charge for this.

The hirer warrants as a term of this contract that the site provided for the skip container is suitable, and that he has every necessary authority or licence which may be required in connection with use of the container.

​ (a) The hirer shall indemnify Portadown Recycling against any claim in respect of personal injury to or the death of any person arising out of or in the course of or caused or contributed to by the "skip container" its use or situation or otherwise in connection therewith during the period of hiring.

(b) The hirer shall indemnify Portadown Recycling against any claim of whatsoever kind in respect of injury trespass or other damage of whatsoever nature to any property real or personal arising from any negligence, omission or default on the part of the hirer or its workmen or sub-contractors or from the breach of statutory duty by the hirer or its sub-contractors or from any cause whatsoever arising out of or in the course of or caused or contributed to by the "container" its use or situation or otherwise in connection therewith during the period of hiring.

​ It is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that the container is loaded in a manner which is safe and that the material is loaded level with the sides, not heaped at one end. The skip MUST not be overfilled. If the skips is above the fill level you will be charged for this waste. For example if the skip is 10% overfilled we will charge an extra 10%, and so on.

​ The skip container shall not be used for the deposit of any hazardous, noxious or offensive material, including foodstuffs, computer monitors, televisions, paint tins, aerosols, gas bottles, tyres, fridges, freezers, fluorescent tubes etc. If waste like this is found within your site a surcharge will be added you to account or charged to your payment method.



​ Any non-permitted waste will be charges using the following prices: -

Plasterboard £125 + VAT per tonne Food waste - £155 + VAT per tonne Insulation/carpet/vinyl/ceiling tile , etc £155 + VAT per tonne Tyres (car tyre £5 + VAT, van tyre £10 + VAT, lorry tyre £20 + VAT) Fridge £25 + VAT per fridge Paint tins - £2.50 + VAT per paint tin Oil Drums - £10 + VAT per drum Gas container - £15 + VAT per canister Fluorescent tubes - £5 + VAT per tube Asbestos £400 + VAT per tonne.

​​ All Roll on skips excluding skips for rubble, soil, clay, hardcore are priced on a haulage charge with a price per tonne rate to suit the waste type. No fixed price rates apply to roll on skips for mixed waste.

​ If the hirer has requested for a skip to be collected, exchanged, they must ensure that access to the skip is clear. Portadown Recycling & Skip Hire Ltd cannot be held responsible for any damage caused as the area must be clear for the lorry to collect the skip that you have requested to be collected/exchanged. Before you request a collection/exchange please ensure the area is clear as we may be able to service the skip very quickly if our drivers are in the area. The charge for wasted journey is £50 per hour that was involved with your skip run – time will be worked out using a return route using goggle maps to our depot at BT62 4EA.

​ Skip hire is for a maximum of 1 week / 7 days – unless agreed at the start. After 1 week / 7 days we collect the skip without notice. If you have it filled before then, please let us know and we will collect it. If you need to keep the skip for a longer period, please call us before the 2 weeks are up and arrange a rental period - £20 per week for skips, and £40 a week for Roll on Skip. All PLUS VAT

​​ Failure to pay for skip hire will result in the waste in your skip being tipped out on your site and the skip being removed by Portadown Recycling. You will be charged the delivery and collection charge at £50 + VAT per hour for the time spent on your site. The skip will then be charged at a weekly rental charge, this will be back dated to when the skip was delivered - £20 per week for skips and £40 a week for Roll on Skip. All PLUS VAT. PLEASE NOTE - if payment has not been received after 90 days we will seek legal guidance to retrieve any money owed.

​ Portadown Recycling & Skip Hire Ltd reserve the right to collect any skip that has been on site for longer than 2 weeks without any written extended agreement in place by a senior manager of Portadown Recycling & Skip Hire Ltd.

If we call out to collect/exchange the skip container and access to the skip is not possible you will be charged a wasted journey fee. Please ensure before calling to check 1) access is ok and 2) nothing is in the way for the lorry when lifting the skip. The charge for wasted journey is £50 per hour that was involved with your job – time will be worked out using a return route using goggle maps to our depot at BT62 4EA.

If you move a skip container on site, it must be moved safely. Our drivers take a photo of skips on delivery/exchange and if damage occurs the hirer will be liable for the repair of the skip. The skip container shall not be used for burning material. The customer shall be held responsible for the necessary repair or replacement of the container or any work required to be effected as a result of misuse of the aforesaid container and in particular, in direct breach of the clause.

The customer is responsible for providing, in accordance with the Roads (Control of Builders Skips) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1981 and 1993, adequate coning and warning lighting for the container.

​ Hardcore / rubble / clay / etc must only be used for - 4 yard, 8 yard and 20 yard skip. This type of waste is not suitable for 12 yard and 30/40 yard skips. Please check with our staff when ordering.

​ Payment is strictly on prior to delivery unless you have set an account up with us. If payment is not received your account will be placed on hold and no skips will be delivered until the payment is received. Extended credit can be set up for clients requiring large volumes of skips

​ If payment is not made on any account we reserve the right to empty the skip on the site it sits and you will be charged the collect fee and the weekly hire for the skip will be calculated from the day it was hired out. Any money due will be claimed via the courts if not resolved in an timely manner.

If you are paying via credit card, please note we charge a 5% charge for American Express Cards. This is a fee imposed on us from the banks. Standard credit/debit cards are processed with no extra charge.

​ If part payment on an account has been made by card and, after 90 days, if we have been unable to receive payment from the account holder for the outstanding balance - we reserve the right to charge the card for the monies due.

​ Any refunds or cancelled skip paid over the phone will incur a £10 administration charge.
